[Sonic VS Shadow!]

Build up... to let down

You had me so excited...

When I first started to watch this movie... my initial impression was: "Great... another sonic and shadow sprite animation." Then you started off with some fairly impressive coreography. I liked how you would actually destroy the landscape (althought it looked like this was made in to happen with Microsoft paint FX)... and I thought it would build up into something climatic.

Then you made a cheap, full color "super shadow" and then there was the anti-climatic end to be the king of all anti-climatic ends.... it was quite disappointing. I was looking forward to voting on the next impressive sonic sprite movie... and found myself--yet again--watching one of the many fan-productions that just doesn't put enough effort into it.

My advice? Take a little more time.... flesh it out. Pull effects sprites from other games to make impressive attacks. Up the marker you set for yourself. IF you are impressed... make it better, because ten to one, someone has already done it. Never settle on the first draft. Also, take time to look at the competition. See what other people have done... and then see if you can top that. Otherwise, like this video, your future submission will be doomed to commonality.

No point...

This looked to be nothing more than an exercise in animation, which I believe there are better places to put those than Newgrounds. I truly did not see the point to this animation, and then to see the little girl rip off the monkey's head? That wasn't funny... I actually felt revolted. Which... for me is a very odd feeling. I enjoy a dark sense of humor, but this was retarded.

I think that if yo were to take a little time and actually animate something with a point, you could end up with a worthwhile submission. This however, does not make the cut in my opinion.

Good for sprite animation

I would have loved to give this movie a better score, because the action was well coreographed.... however, the music is annoying and hurts your ears. Not only that, but you don't end the movie. It just keeps looping... and looping... and looping. I refreshed the screen to see if perhaps I had a glitch, but no such luck. It needs some work, because as it is right now... too short, no explanation... and it's annoying to listen to.

I would recommend finishing the fight scene rather than having it loop again after the "quasi final flash" attack that looks and promises to be pretty. I would change the music to something a little less... abrasive to the audience's auditory nerves. Finally I would possibly do voice overs for the characters... you never know, it could make the animation seem more personable.

As it is right now? The animation is sub-par.
